William "Bill" Grode, 58, of Watertown died Thurs., April 18, at Sun Dial Manor, Bristol.

Bill Grode, son of Robert and Marian (Prunty) Grode, was born October 10, 1960 in Watertown, SD.  He grew up on a farm near Bristol, SD and graduated in 1978 from Bristol High School.  Bill went on to study carpentry at Lake Area Tech.  Soon after graduating Bill started his own construction company, Bill Grode Construction, where he went on to work on numerous houses and built many custom homes in the Watertown area.

Bill was an avid outdoorsman who enjoyed hunting and fishing with his many close friends. He was an ardent reader and sports enthusiast who frustratedly rooted for the Minnesota Vikings. Bill loved to share his words of wisdom with his nieces and nephews and anyone else that cared to listen.  Bill was a kind and helpful man who was the first to lend a hand to someone in need.

He is survived by his parents, Robert and Marian Grode of Bristol, SD, brothers Daniel "Deacon" Grode of Bristol, SD, Loren (Karla) Grode of East Wenatchee, WA, Keith (Toni) Grode of Katy, TX, Paul Grode of Yuma, AZ, Tom (Tiffany) Grode of Brandon, SD; sisters Mary Grode of Aberdeen, SD and Sandy (Craig) Lee of Racine, WI.  Along with many nieces, nephews, relatives and friends.

Bill was preceded in death by his brothers, David (Carol) Grode in 2000 and Brent in infancy.

Urn bearer will be Doug Riley.
