Mass of Christian Burial will be Sat., Nov. 11 at 10:30 at St. Joseph's Catholic Church, Grenville. Burial with Military Graveside Rites will be Conducted by Henning Shemanski American Legion Post #267 in the church cemetery.
Visitation will be from 5-7 Fri., Nov. 10 at St. Joseph's Catholic Church, Grenville ending with Rosary.
Stanley C. Lesnar was born on March 3 rd , 1928 to Bernard and Pelgia (Pionk) Lesnar. He was born on the family farm one mile north of Grenville, SD. He was the eighth of eleven children by this union and two more children of James Lesnar and Pelgia. He was baptized and confirmed at St. Joseph's Catholic Church in Grenville.
In the mid 1940's he entered the Maryknoll Seminary in Glen Ellyn, Illinois. He was drafted into the US Army in Fort Hood, TX, from 1953-1955 and was honorably discharged. He returned to South Dakota and began his farming career on the family farm.
He met Delores Sigaty at a dance in Grenville, SD and they were united in marriage on September 17, 1960. Stanley and Delores were beloved parents to three sons and one daughter.
He was a lifelong member of St. Joseph's Catholic Church where he served as a church council member, usher, and Eucharistic Minister. He was a member of the Catholic Order of Foresters where he served a term as Chief Ranger, and a member of St. Joseph's Society.
Stanley was a 40-year member of the Henning-Shemanski American Legion Post #267 Grenville. He loved hunting, fishing, playing cards, going dancing and would spend numerous hours walking his land checking on his crop fields. He also enjoyed his time as a seasonal trapper. Stanley was a true family man, loving husband, noble father and inspirational grandfather and great grandfather.
He entered Strand-Kjorsvig Community Living Center on August 13, 2016 and died peacefully on November 7, 2017.
He is survived by his wife of fifty-seven years Delores, sons Michael, Grenville, Stanley J., Aberdeen, and Ronald (Marilyn), Grenville, daughter, Matilda (Jeff) Grobe, Aberdeen, eight grandchildren and fifteen great grandchildren, sisters, Artalda Stegora, Minnesota, Mary (Leo) Kautz, Lindstom, MN, Stephanie Flemming, Watertown, SD, brother, James (Kathy) Lesnar. Worthington, MN. Others gracious to have known him is his sister-in-law Evonne R. Lesnar, Roslyn, SD and many nieces and nephews.
He is preceded in death by his parents, stepfather, and siblings, Lawrence, Bernadine Hubsch, Amanda Jungwith, Joseph, Frank B., Genevieve Flemming, Philip, Sabina Anderson, brother-in-law's and sister-in-law's.
Arrangements have been entrusted with Coester Funeral Home, Webster.
