Rosemarie "Rosie" Okroi, 57, of Roslyn, SD died Monday, October 3, 2011 at Sanford Hosptial, Webster.
Mass of Christian Burial will be 10:30 Thursday, Oct. 6, 2011 at St. Joseph's Catholic Church, Grenville. Interment will be at St. Otto's Cemetery, Webster.
Visitation will be from 5-7 Wed. with the Rosary prayed at 7 at St. Joseph's Catholic Church.
Rosie was born on March 10, 1954 in Webster, SD to Herman & Joan (Dolney) Schmig. Rosie attended St. Otto's Catholic School graduating from the 8th grade. Rosie continued her education in Webster Public School. Following school she married John Swanson.
Rosie worked at Dakotah in Webster for many years. She worked several jobs in the Webster area. Rosie then married Larry Okroi at their home in Roslyn. She then opened The Pioneer Store, which was a small convenience store where she also sewed. Rosie then started cooking for Jimmy J's in Roslyn until 2005 when she purchased Jimmy J's and renamed it Rosie's Bar & Grill.
Rosie enjoyed sewing, reading, spending time with her grandchildren, and volunteering in many ways in Roslyn.
Rosie was a member of St. Joseph's Catholic Church and the altar society.
Grateful for having shared her life is her husband: Larry of Milbank, SD, one son: Sam (Rebekah) Swanson of Roslyn, SD, two daughters: Sara (Kent) Lorensberg of Roslyn, SD, Barb (Justin) Niles of Webster, SD, 5 grandchildren, and one brother: Roger (Mary) Schmig of Webster, SD.
Her parents and one brother: Rodney preceded her in death.
