Peter Palmgren, 75, of Webster died Tues., June 6 at Sanford Hospital, Webster.

A celebration of life service will be held at 10:00am on Saturday, June 10th at the First Baptist Church, 436 West 7th Avenue, Webster, SD 57274, with Rev. Steve Hargis officiating.

Memorials may be made in lieu of flowers to the Pete and Ginny Fund at the First Baptist Church. The Pete and Ginny fund was started by Peter Palmgren in memory of his wife, Virginia Palmgren, to help children attend summer camps.

Peter was born April 6th, 1942 in Graceville, MN to Doris and Conrad Palmgren. After graduating High School he briefly attended St Cloud College before enlisting in the Navy when he was 19 and served as an Electronics Technician-Radar Officer before retiring from service in 1965. On November 9th, 1963 he married his beloved Virginia Wilson. He accepted the position of Canteen Manager for the Veterans Administration that relocated him a few times before his retirement at Fort Meade in Sturgis, SD. He and Ginny moved to Webster, SD in 2002.

Peter loved studying the passions of his youth, like farming and history, as well as hunting, fishing and hiking. He enjoyed working with his hands, attending auctions, taking care of his pets or "hairy kids", talking with friends and making everyone laugh. After Ginny passed, he found great comfort caring for others and attending church.

He is survived by his sisters, Pattie and Sarah, his children, Peter Edward, Karin & Richard and his 7 grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Doris & Conrad Palmgren, and wife, Ginny (Wilson) Palmgren.

The family would like to thank all the care given by the Sanford Clinic staff in both Aberdeen and Webster. Their understanding and compassion was a great comfort to Peter and his family.
