Obituary

L. Margaret Reetz, 92, of Webster, SD died Monday, May 3, 2010 at Bethesda Home, Webster.

Funeral services will be held at 10:30 Wednesday, May 5, 2010 at St. John's Lutheran Church, Webster. Burial will be in the Webster Cemetery.

Visitation will be from 5:00 – 7:00 Tuesday at Coester Funeral Home, Webster and will resume again one hour prior to the services at the church on Wednesday.

(Lillie) Margaret Hutchinson, only child of Carlisle and Jennie (Baker) Hutchinson, was born on a farm near Crandall, South Dakota on October 31, 1917. She attended country school at Dist. #199 in Day County. She graduated from high school in Raymond in 1934, having lived there with her grandmother for those four years. After attending Northern Normal in Aberdeen she taught school near Webster for two years.

Margaret married Walter Reetz on June 20, 1938 , in Watertown, South Dakota, and they moved into a new home on the family farm. There she lived for 32 years with her husband helping operate the farm until they retired and moved into Webster in 1970.

After her husband passed away in 1972, she worked in Pierre for two legislative sessions, and later in several Webster hardware stores. She was an active member in the Democratic Party and Farmers Union, serving as county officer in both for many years.

Margaret loved the outdoors and bowling. She served as officer of the Day County Sportsman Club, and loved to hunt and fish with her family. Her later years were spent being involved with Senior Citizens groups, visiting less fortunate, volunteering at Needs Anonymous and doing what she could to help those in need.

Margaret joined St. John's Lutheran Church in Webster in 1938 and became an active member of the church, serving in various duties including Council and WELCA.

Margaret's children and grandchildren were of the utmost joy, love and concern of her life.

She entered Bethesda Nursing Home in Webster, in May 2004 and remained there, receiving the staff's loving care until her death.

Grateful for having shared her life is one son; Lyle (Linda) Reetz and one daughter; Nyla Amundson both of Webster, South Dakota 6 grandchildren; Shelly Pulscher, Jamie (Lori) Reetz, Keri (Scott) Simunek, Wally (fianceé Sandra) Amundson, June Lauritson, Carol Gulley, and 14 great grandchildren; Hunter & Ty Pulscher, Riley, Coby, & Drew Reetz, Sam & Seth Simunek, Shea & Logan Amundson, Justin McMillian, Andrew & Patrick Lauritson, Amanda and Shayna Schauble and one great grandson, Akira McMillan

She was preceded in death by her parents and her husband.
