Lois was born on January 31, 1927 in Ortley, SD to Otto and Clara Monserud. She was raised there and received her education at Ortley Country School. She married Duane Wagner on November 24, 1944 and they made their home on the family farm southeast of Webster. Duane passed away on August 7, 1971. After Duane's passing Lois moved to town and worked at the Municipal Liquor Store for over 20 years until her retirement. She remained active for many years and entered Bethesda Home in October 2012.
Lois enjoyed music and played the piano by ear, but she only liked to play on the black keys. She also liked to yodel in her younger days. Lois loved word games of all kinds. Her favorite pastime was watching TV and doing the daily crossword puzzle. In her lifetime she probably did thousands of crossword puzzles and the best gift for grandma was always a jumbo puzzle book. Her favorite TV shows were The Price is Right and Wheel of Fortune. Lois was a good cook and was always prepared with something to eat just in case company stopped by.
Lois is survived by her four children, David (Sandy) Wagner, Larry (Connie) Wagner, Tom (Lori) Wagner all of Webster and Kathy (Tom) Dains of Sioux Falls, 11 grandchildren, 24 great-grandchildren, 2 great-great grandchildren, and 3 sisters, Leone (John) Sieh, Luanne (Owen) Swanson both of Aberdeen and Carole Monserud of San Diego, California.
She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, a brother Lyle Monserud and a grand-daughter, Julie Wagner.
