LaVerne Block, 87, of Bristol died Friday, January 14, at Sun Dial Manor, Bristol.

LaVerne L. "Vern" Block was born December 31 ^st , 1934 to Joe and Valeria (Wirkus) Block in Webster, South Dakota.  Vern attended Webster School and later in life received his GED.

Vern married Margaret Reid (Lentsch) and work took them to Minneapolis, Pierpont, Webster, Owatonna, and finally Lily.  Over the years Vern worked for National School Studios, the Blue Jeans Factory, Day County Landfill, and Sears.

An avid fisherman, you would find him driving around local lakes in hopes of finding a new spot to wet a line.  No matter where he traveled his tackle box and pole were with him, hoping to catch a few fresh fish for evening dinner.  Known as "the professor" he would tinker with anything and find a way to get it operational again.  His love of cars kept him busy searching for a good deal.  We joke that he could wear down the best sales person.

Blessed to have shared his life are his former wife Margaret, Desert Hot Springs, CA; DAUGHTER; Robin (Joe) Bucholz of Hutchinson, MN;  Granddaughters Melissa (Chad) Brinwall of Zimmerman, MN; Jennifer Bucholz of Saint Michael, MN; Grandson Tyler (Lindsey) Bucholz of Bentonville, AK; SON Terry (Wanda) Block of Groton, SD; Granddaughter Jessica (Steph) Younkins of Aberdeen, SD; Grandson Jason (Danielle) Block of New Holstein, WI; SON Robert "Bob" (April) Block of West Fargo, ND; Granddaughters Justine Turk of Detroit Lakes, MN and Hannah, Avah, and Oliviah Block of West Fargo, ND;  SON John (Kimberly) Glosser of Helena, MT;  Granddaughter Angie Block of Watertown, SD; brothers David and Marie Ann Block, Paoli, IN; Ray and Willa Block of Rapid City; Dennis and Marsha Block of Rapid City; sisters Marlys and Bill Joyce of Corona, CA; Doris Forrest, Minneapolis, MN.

He was preceded in death by his son, Joe Block, parents, two Sisters Adeline and Virginia, four Brothers, Eugene, Harry, Richard, and Martin.
