June Grode, 88, of Webster, SD died Friday, July 29, 2011 at Bethesda Home , Webster.
Mass of Christian Burial will be 10:30 Tuesday, Aug. 2, 2011 at Christ The King Catholic Church, Webster. Burial will be in St. Otto's Cemetery, Webster.
Visitation will be from 6-8 Monday at Christ The King Church, Webster and will resume again one hour prior to the services on Monday.
June E. Grode was born June 11, 1923 on a farm near Mellette to Dorothy and Arthur Hartwell. She attended country school, graduated from Brentford High School, and received her teaching certificate Northern State Teacher's College, Aberdeen.
June married Raymond Grode September 24, 1947 at Sacred Heart Catholic Church, Aberdeen. The couple farmed south of Webster until retirement in 1988. They moved to Watertown and spent winters in Sun City West, AZ. June entered Bethesda Nursing Home, Webster in 2007.
She was a member of Christ the King Catholic Church, Altar Society, Research Club, Catholic Foresters and taught religious education classes. June was a teacher in Bristol and Watertown before starting their family. She enjoyed music, knitting, crocheting, baking, painting, calligraphy, fishing, and family.
Survivors include her husband, Raymond, Webster; five sons, Michael and Sandy, Grand Junction, CO; Ron and Karen, Ankeny, IA; David and Helen, Bigfork, MT; Dennis and Sara, Mill Creek, WA; Roger and Kelly, Mission Hill, SD; four daughters, Mary and Gary Fox, Jamestown, ND; Cheryl Sime, Burlington, IA; Barb and Bruce Baumgarn, Grimes, IA; and Marsha and Mark Cantrell, Boise, ID; 34 grandchildren and 25 great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her son Larry, and an infant daughter.
