John Koppe, 65, of Webster died Wednesday, Aug. 20, 2008 at Sanford Hospital, Webster.
Mass of Christian Burial will be 10:30 Sat. Aug. 23, 2008 at Christ The King Catholic Church Webster. Burial will be in St Otto's Catholic Cemetery Webster with Military Graveside Rites conducted by Herbert-McKennett American Legion Post 40 Webster.
Visitation will be from 1-4 Friday at Coester Funeral Home Webster and from 6-8 at the church with a prayer service at 7 at the church.
John G. Koppe was born on Nov. 15, 1942 in Webster, SD to George & Elizabeth (Newman) Koppe. He attended school in Webster until his sophomore year. Following school he worked as a farm hand for area farmers until enlisting in the National Guard in 1962. John served in the National Guard for 20 years before is retirement and Honorable Discharge.
In 1975 he married JoAnn Dolney in Webster she passed away in 1997.
In 1963, John became an apprentice Lineman for Lake Region Electric in Webster. John worked for Lake Region Electric until retiring in January 2001.
John lived most of his life in Day County. In 2000 John married Janice (Reiprich) Lesnar in Webster, SD.
John enjoyed hunting, fishing and playing cards with his family and his many friends.
John was a member of Christ The King Catholic Church Webster, Catholic Foresters and Herbert McKennett American Legion Post #40 Webster.
Grateful for having shared his life is his wife; Janice of Webster, SD, one daughter; Julie Koppe of Watertown, SD, two step daughters; Shawn Lesnar of Aberdeen, SD, Denise (Steve) Speck of Aberdeen, SD, one step son; John (Dawn) Lesnar of Mansfield, TX, two grandchildren, four step grandchildren, one sister; Fran (David) Gruba of McGrath, MN, and many nieces and nephews.
His parents, previous wife, and one granddaughter preceded him in death.
Casketbearers will be Ron Kuecker, Chuck Johnson, Dave Gruba, Orville Helgeson, Jeff Schmidt, Wes Monshaugen, Felix Spiering, and Jack Jacobs.
