A time to share memories and stories of Iris will be from 6-8 Friday, June 15 at Coester Funeral Home, Webster.
Iris will be laid to rest at a later date.
Iris D. Lohan was born on August 18, 1933 in rural Bowman, SC to Aquilla and Flossie (Ayers) Drawdy. She attended school in Bowman and Orangeburg, SC. After completing high school she went to work for Western Union in Florence, SC. While living in Florence, SC, she met her future husband William D. Lohan. After their marriage in 1954, they moved around the continental US a lot as Bill's Marine Corps career took them on a 20+ year journey where in 1079 they ended up at Enemy Swim Lake.
Iris was a homemaker and a devoted mother of 2 sons and 2 daughters. She spent many hours sewing, quilting, flower and vegetable gardening, canning and doing odd jobs.
Iris was hardworking and took great pride in her accomplishments.
While living in Waubay, Iris opened a unique, seasonal "what not shop" called the "Blue Iris" on Enemy Swim Lake. Here she sold her hand made quilted items, she painted many unique pieces of art furniture a talent she discovered in her late 40's, dill pickles, antiques and what nots.
She made many friends and folks often stopped by just to enjoy her flowerbeds, have a cup of coffee and a bite to eat.
Grateful for having shared her life is her two sons, William (Vicki) Lohan Jr. of Grants Pass, OR; Timothy Lohan of Sioux Falls, SD; two daughters, Suzan (Robert) Boekhoff of Waubay, SD; Julie (Brad) Beauchamp of Apex, NC; 4 grandchildren, 3 great grandchildren; two sisters Bonnie Shearer of Walterboro, SC, Sandra Courie of Cayce, SC; two brothers, Ralph Drawdy of Orangeburg, SC; and Phil Drawdy of Vance, SC.
