Henry Okroi, 65, of Roslyn died Thurs., Oct. 29 at his residence.
Henry August Okroi was born on 10/29/55 the fourth son of Benedict and Jeanette (Gaikowski) Okroi in Sisseton, SD.
He attended grade school at St. Joseph's Catholic Church in Grenville, in 1974 graduated from Roslyn High School. He received his Electrical Contracting Certificate from Mitchell Area Vo-Tech
He joined the South Dakota National Guards in 1974. In 1990-1991 he served in Desert Storm War as a Mechanic with the 2 nd Battalion 147 th Company. He retired after 25 years of service.
He was a lifetime member of St Joseph's Catholic Church, Greenville, SD.
Henry owned and operated Okroi Electric/B&H Electric until his death. Over the course of his lifetime he taught Electrical Contracting at Mitchell Vo-Tech, Eagle Butte College and Sisseton-Wahpeton College. He also spent many years working for the Sisseton Wahpeton Sioux Tribe.
Henry married Londra Knebel at St. Joseph's Catholic Church in 1984 and to this union, 3 children were born: Adam, Katherine and Joseph. In 1999, he married Beverly Christopher and they shared their life together in Roslyn, SD.
Henry enjoyed nothing more than to spend his time with his grandkids and tinkering in his shop.
He was predeceased by his wife Beverly, his father, Benedict Okroi, brother and sister in law, Lawrence and Rosemarie Okroi.
Henry is survived by his children: Adam (Briana), Katherine (Taylor) and Joseph (Megan). Stepchildren: Andrew Zeller (Rena), Danny Zeller and Patty Wells. Grandchildren: Julie, Jackson, Levi, Brantly, Gianna, Julian and Sophia, his mother, Jeanette Okroi. Brothers: Dennis (Darla) Okroi, Kenneth (Rosanne) Okroi, and sister, Susan (Corey) Liknes, sister in law Susie (Darrell) as well as many nieces and nephews.
In lieu of flowers the family perfers memorials to be sent to Adam Okroi 12355 440th Ave. Eden, SD 57232.
