Obituary

Harlan Herr, 96, of Webster died Fri., July 3 in Forest Lake, MN.

Harlan was born August 17, 1923 in Butler, SD to Carl & Cordie (Currier) Herr. He graduated from Butler High School in 1941. Harlan was a WWII veteran who served in the Philippines. After discharge, he farmed with his father until he became a Ford mechanic working in Webster, SD and Newberg, OR.

Harlan married Elma Green on Feb. 18, 1948 in Bristol, SD. They lived in the Lily and Webster areas before moving to Newberg, OR where they lived for 24 years before moving back to Webster in 1996. After his wife passed away in 2018, Harlan lived with family in MN. In 2019, he moved to Parmly-on-the -Lake assisted living-memory care facility.

Harlan enjoyed hunting, fishing, motorcycling, gardening, biking and watching western movies.

Harlan is survived by one sister: Stella (Arnold) Lorensberg, Clear Lake, SD; one son: Richard (Paula) Herr of Andover, MN; one daughter: Holly (Ronald) Payer of Forest Lake, MN; 5 grandchildren; 9 great grandchildren; and many nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by Elma, his wife of 70 years; his parents; 4 brothers and sisters; and an infant daughter, Carol Ann.
