David Kotzea, 51, of Aberdeen, SD with family at his side died Wednesday October 1 at Avera St. Luke's Hospital in Aberdeen.

David was born on October 4, 1973 to Gene and Jacqueline (Dokter) Kotzea in Webster, SD.  David grew up on the family farm and attended school in Waubay. David enjoyed the farm and loved making the short walk up to Gramma Mabel's house for one of her delicious baking treats. David later moved to Aberdeen where he lived until the time of his death.

David enjoyed spending time with family and friends. He loved, in his good natured way,to razz his brothers regarding just about anything. He enjoyed watching a variety of things on TV, but especially football. He was a Cowboy's fan, but we won't hold that against him! David loved his coffee in the morning and was quick to greet everyone with a smile and ask, "How you doing this morning?"

Grateful for having shared his life are his brothers Donald of Aberdeen and Darrell of Watertown, cousins, and his many friends at Aspire.

David was preceded in death by his parents, his sister Mari, and brother's Ronald and Joseph.
