Obituary

Daniel S. Ewalt, 84, of Grenville, SD peacefully passed away Sat., Nov. 16 at the VA Hospital, Fargo, ND.

Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 10:30 AM Saturday, November 23, 2013 at St. Joseph's Catholic Church, Grenville, Burial will be in St. Joseph's Cemetery with Military Graveside Rites by Henning Shemanski American Legion Post # 267.

Visitation will be from 5-7 PM Friday, November 22 at St. Joseph's Catholic Church, Grenville with a 7:00 PM Prayer Service.

Daniel Stanley Ewalt was born on November 12, 1929 in Day County, SD to Frank and Rose (Kwasniewski) Ewalt. He attended St. Joseph's Catholic School in Grenville and graduated in 1949. He enlisted in the US Air Force in 1951, and received an honorable discharge in 1955.

He married Genevieve Snaza on May 26, 1953 and they lived in Topeka, KS until his discharge from the service. They returned to South Dakota and farmed north of Grenville where they raised their 6 children.

He was a member of St. Joseph's Catholic Church and Catholic Order of Foresters, and was an active member of the Grenville American Legion since his discharge.

He loved to play cards, especially pinochle and enjoyed spending time with his family.

Grateful for having shared his life is his wife "Genny" of 60 years, four daughters and two sons; Rosanne (Kenny) Okroi, and Kenny Ewalt of Grenville, Karen (Rob) Kelly of Mandan, ND, Marlene (Rob) Ward of Milbank, SD, Charlie (Jayne) Ewalt of Watertown, SD, and Nancy (Dallas) Hagen of Oakes, ND, 19 grandchildren, & 17 great grandchildren. He is also survived by his sister; Betty (Swede) Spanton of Watertown, SD.

He was preceded in death by his parents, four brothers and four sisters.
