Brenda Joyce (Bawek) Snaza was born July 25, 1951, in Huron, SD to Morris and Joyce (Nehls) Bawek.  She was the second of seven children.  She grew up in Grenville, SD where she attended St. Joseph's Catholic School until the 9th grade.  She then attended Roslyn High School where she graduated in 1969.  She was baptized, received her First Communion, was confirmed and married at St. Joseph Catholic Church in Grenville.

On December 20, 1969, she married her high school sweetheart George Snaza. George joined the Navy and was stationed in San Diego, CA.  While residing in CA she gave birth to their son Roy in San Francisco on June 9, 1970.  While George was overseas, Brenda and Roy returned home to Grenville while awaiting his return.

Upon George's discharge from the Navy in Feb 1972 they moved to Waseca, MN until spring of 1974.  In 1974 they moved to Britton, SD where George worked for Harold and Lela Olson.  While residing in Britton, Brenda gave birth to their daughter Dawn on Sept 17, 1974.

In 1977 they moved back to Grenville where they ran a dairy farm.   In 1980 they relocated to Waubay, SD where they owned and operated a dairy farm for 10 years.  Brenda enjoyed being a dairy farmer's wife and homemaker.  She also cared for George's mother, Gunda, while she lived on the farm with them.  She cooked at Pereboom's Cafe in Webster, SD and B&L Eatery in Waubay, SD.

In 1989 Brenda was diagnosed with MS.  In 1990 they moved to Groton, SD, where Brenda babysat for Larry and Beverly Ball's boys.  In 1992 they moved to Canova, SD where Brenda became a Home Health Care Technician.  She helped the elderly with day-to-day tasks and cleaned their homes.  She enjoyed caring for children and the elderly until she became unable to work due to her MS.  In 2004 they moved down the road to Bridgewater, SD where Brenda enjoyed cooking, baking, gardening, designing the house's next remodel, and spending time with her favorite dog, Spanky. In 2021 they moved to Comanche, TX to be closer to their daughter and reside in a warmer climate.

Brenda lived with MS for 36 years. Throughout the years George never left her side and did whatever he could to make her life easier.  She was able to manage her MS symptoms for several years and lived a fulfilling life.  As the MS progressed Brenda experienced more pain and symptoms requiring additional care.  In June 2025 she had a procedure done to relieve her severe leg pain.  After the procedure she developed a hematoma on her spine that disabled her from the waist down.  She was placed in the Western Hills Healthcare Residence in Comanche for additional care and physical therapy.  She resided there until her passing on Dec 5, 2025.

Brenda was always known as Betty Crocker at family gatherings for her love of cooking and baking.  She baked several cakes for many special occasions over the years.  She loved fashion and always wore the latest styles with jewelry and shoes to match. She enjoyed dancing, socializing, attending class reunions, getting together with friends, spending time with Dawn's friends, and being surrounded by family.  Some of her favorite shows were The Young and the Restless, The Bold and the Beautiful, Dancing with the Stars and The Bachelor.   Her biggest joy was being a homemaker and taking care of George until her body was no longer able to.

She is survived by her husband of 56 years George, her son Roy (Aleenia) Snaza of Aberdeen, daughter Dawn of Dublin, TX, her siblings Pam Bawek of Aberdeen, Don (Barb) Bawek of Grenville, Barry (Deanna) Bawek of Conde, Cindy (Curt) Haskell of Conde, and Cheryl (Jim) Sayler of Aberdeen, several grandchildren, nieces, nephews, and great nieces and nephews.
