Donald "Bill" James Marko was born November 9, 1951, to Peter and Ione (Nelson) Marko at Peabody Hospital in Webster, SD. He was baptized and confirmed into the Catholic faith. Bill attended St. Otto's Catholic School in Webster, SD, through the eighth grade. He then attended Webster High School where he graduated in 1970. Upon graduation, he briefly worked in Clark, SD, at the potato plant.,
Bill set his career path in the concrete business for Brewster Concrete located in Webster, SD, at the age of 20. He continued to work through multiple ownership and location changes until his retirement from G.C.C. at the age of 62. Bill was not only passionate about his work, but truly relished the many friendships made during that time. After retirement, he enjoyed working with Jim Brakefield, and later Matthew Wik, owner of Dakota Services, L.L.C.
Bill was a kind soul who enjoyed gardening, "moving and shaking", the simplicity of "cruising" around, and the art of storytelling. Anyone who knew him has a fond memory of him telling a great story. Bill was an avid outdoorsman who truly cherished hunting and the art of fishing. He could almost always be found out on the water, or a block of ice, for hours at a time (if the fish were biting).
