Obituary

Beverly J. "Bev" Washenberger, 74, of Webster, SD died unexpectantly Friday, July 31, 2009 at Sanford Hospital, Webster. She was the widow of David Washenberger.

Funeral services will be held at 10 a.m. Tuesday, August 4 at St. John's Lutheran Church, Webster, with Pastor Kristin Ostercamp officiating. Burial will be in the Webster Cemetery.

Visitation will be from 5-8 p.m. at Coester Funeral Home, Webster. Visitation will resume again one hour prior to the services at the church.

Beverly June Washenberger was born December 1, 1934 at rural Butler to Albert and Amanda (Reiprich) Buck. She was the last member of her family to be born in the original family farmhouse prior to a fire destroying it. She attended country schools and following school she worked on the family farm.

March 19, 1955 she married David Washenberger at St. John's Lutheran Church, Webster. Together, they made their home in Webster. David passed away June 13, 1996.

Beverly was baptized and confirmed at St. John's Lutheran Church, where she was a lifetime member; had been a member of the Ladies Aide, a former Sunday School teacher and was an active member of Serving Group #2.

Beverly enjoyed doing puzzles, gardening and spending time with her children and grandchildren and visiting with neighbors. In earlier years, she also worked together with her husband at their farm located southeast of Webster. A recent highlight of her life was traveling to Disney World in Orlando, Fla. with her daughter and family.

Grateful for having shared her life are her two sons, Wayne and his wife, Lanette, Washenberger of Aberdeen; Leo Washenberger of Webster; one daughter, Cindy and her husband, Brian, Vogl of Brookings; nine grandchildren, five great grandchildren; one sister, Loretta Haight of Aberdeen; and nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, David; one son, Wade; three brothers, Delbert, Eugene and Milo Buck; and two sisters, Delores Raeder and Eldora Nelson.
