Obituary

Betty Schlamann, 86, of Webster. SD died Thurs., Sept. 18, 2014 at Sun Dial Manor, Bristol.

Mass of Christian Burial will be 10:30 Monday, Sept. 22, 2014 at Christ The King Catholic Church, Webster. Burial will be in St. Otto's Cemetery, Webster.

Visitation will be from 5-7 Sunday, Sept. 21 at Christ The King Catholic Church with a prayer service at 7. Visitation will resume again one hour prior to the services on Monday.

Betty Jean Fleischaker was born April 10, 1928, in Webster, to Bessie Marie (Blocker) and John Lawrence Fleischaker. She was baptized at St. Otto's Catholic Church in Webster. She attended Country School thru Grade 5, St. Otto's Catholic School thru grade 8, and graduated from Webster High School in 1945. During High School she was employed as a nurse's aide at Peabody Hospital in Webster. After graduation she worked in Minneapolis for 1 year and then returned to Peabody Hospital for a year. She began working at Cornwell Drug in 1947 as a clerk and later as a bookkeeper until her retirement in 2001.

Betty married Baldwin "Baldy" Schlamann on April 19, 1948 at St. Otto's Catholic Rectory. She was very active in the community and church. She was a member of the American Legion Auxiliary, Women's Catholic Order of Foresters and Christ the King Women's Society. Through the years she was a member of the women's golf league and women's bowling league. She enjoyed playing bridge and was in several bridge groups until her health no longer permitted it. They lived their life in Webster until Baldy's death in 2008 at which time Betty moved to Sun Dial Manor in Bristol.

She was a very caring and compassionate person who was always considerate of others before herself. She looked forward to visits from her grandkids and liked baking with them and playing cards.

She is survived by one daughter and son-in-law, Barbara and John Jacobson, of Delhi, India. Three grandchildren; Travis Jacobson of Omaha, NE; Tricia Jacobson of Chandler, AZ; and Trent and Lindsey Jacobson of Kernersville, NC. One great-grandson, Jayden Jacobson of Chandler, AZ.

She was preceded in death by her parents and husband, Baldwin, in June, 2008.
