Alice Lesner Gebur, 95, of Bristol, formerly of Webster, died Thursday, May 16, 2024 at Sanford Hospital, Webster, SD.

Alice M. Kwasniewski was born on November 2, 1928 in Groton, SD.  She was the eldest child of Frank S. and Florence (Becht) Kwasniewski. She grew up in Webster, attending St. Otto Catholic Grade School and Webster High School, graduating in 1945.

Alice married Anselem R. Rumpca at St. Otto Catholic Church in Webster in 1946.  They farmed near Grenville before moving back to Webster, where Alice lived her entire life.

In 1956, Alice married Leonard J. Lesner in Webster.  Together, they worked at Wist Lockers and eventually became partners of Frank's Lockers, a family-owned butcher shop and diner.

She married Barnabus (Barney) Gebur at Immaculate Conception Church in Waubay in 1991.

As a member of Christ the King Catholic Church, Alice participated in the choir and was in the first group to be installed as a Eucharistic Minister, serving for 28 years.  She was active in the Altar Society and Catholic Daughters.  She was a lifetime member of the VFW Auxiliary, where she served in every office, including president.

Alice loved taking care of others.  Wherever she found a need, she was there, from baking a birthday cake to praying with them at their hospital bedside.  She enjoyed cooking and baking, always searching for new recipes to share with others.

Alice was a good listener with a remarkable memory for names and local history.  She became instant friends with new acquaintances as she reminisced with them about their families and her connections with them.

Alice is survived by four children:  Annette (Dennis) Bastolich of Cottage Grove, MN, Anselem H. (Marie) Rumpca of Pierre, SD, Charles (Melody) Lesner of Waubay, SD, Maria Arth-Stover of Montana; fifteen grandchildren, fifteen great-grandchildren; one brother: Edward Kwasniewski of Lake Havasu, AZ and Webster; five sisters:  Dorothy Rye of McIntosh, SD, Elaine Erdman of Lake Havasu, AZ, Delphine Kwasniewski of Webster, SD, Zita Snaza of Enemy Swim Lake, SD & Edith Harsche of Yuma, AZ.

She is preceded in death by her parents, husbands Anselem R. Rumpca, Leonard Lesner, and Barnabus Gebur; daughter Angeline (Angie) Gerharter; step-daughter Linda Johnson; sister Juliene Miller; two brothers, Timothy Kwasniewski, and Urban Eugene who died as an infant.
