Adelpha Horst, 94 of Roslyn, died Friday, Jan. 9 at Stand-Kjorsvig Home, Roslyn.
Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 10:30 Thurs,. Jan. 15 at Christ the King Catholic Church, Webster. Burial will be in St. Otto's Cemetery, Webster.
Visitation will be Wednesday, Jan 14 from 5-7 with a 7:00 Wake service at Christ the King Catholic Church, Webster.
Adelpha was born on July 12, 1920 in rural Day County to Leo and Rose (Sichmeller) Dolney. She attended St. Joseph's Catholic School and rural country school until the 8th grade. Following school Adelpha help on the family farm. She met Otto while working at the Library in Webster.
On November 21, 1939 Otto and Adelpha were married in Grenville. They lived on a farm near Webster. In 1947, they moved to Webster where she worked various jobs until her family was raised. She then worked as a CNA at the Day County Hospital in Webster until retiring in 1981. In 2004 Adelpha moved to the Strand-Kjorsvig Home, Roslyn. She lived there until her passing.
Adelpha enjoyed baking, knitting, sewed, fishing, and gardening.
Adelpha was a member of Christ the King Catholic Church, Altar Society, and Catholic Order of Foresters.
Grateful for having shared her life is two sons; Eugene (Garna) of Sioux Falls, SD, Leon (Patricia) of Sun City West, AZ, two daughters; Janet (Merv) Tvinnerman Sun City West, AZ, Grace (Clyde) Hendricks of Polk City, IA, 9 grandchildren, 14 great grandchildren, one sister, Anne Staloch of Eyota, MN; two brothers; George (Bonnie) Dolney of Bristol, SD, Dennis Dolney of Minneapolis, MN.
She was preceded in death by parents, husband, one daughter, one grandson, 3 brothers, and 6 sisters.
The family was grateful for all the care and support from the Strand-Kjorsvig Home.
