Adele Herrick, 90, of Bristol formerly Grenville died Thursday, October 03 at Sandford Hospital, Webster.
Mass of Christian Burial will be 11:00 Monday, October 8, 2012 at St. Joseph's Catholic Church, Grenville. Burial will be in the church cemetery.
Visitation will be from 9-11 Monday, October 8 at St. Joseph's Catholic Church, Grenville.
Adele was born June 17, 1922 in Arena, ND to Norwegian immigrants Ole and Amanda Hatle. After spending five of her grade school years in British Columbia, Canada, Adele finished her schooling in Driscoll, ND.
On July 28, 1947, Adele married Henry Herrick, and they raised five children on farms in the Day County area and in Grenville and Bristol. They could be found fishing, bird watching, gardening, dancing, and listening to polka music.
Adele was a persistent learner and always ready for a challenge. She had a vibrant, down-to-earth personality that often warmed the hearts of total strangers upon meeting. She especially enjoyed spending time with her family, cooking and cheering on the MN Vikings.
Some of Adele's occupations included farming, serving as Mayor of Grenville, and working at Dakotah Inc. as a quilter and designer.
Preceding her in death were husband Henry, 5 brothers, and 4 sisters.
She is survived by her five children, Leslie (Myra) of Brownsville, MN, Sonny (Judy) of Webster, Leon (Donna) of Bristol, Jim (Pam) of Rochester, and Bonnie Horter (Randy) of Bristol; sister, Olga Mae Jones; brother-in-law, Pete Herrick; 14 grandchildren, and 13 great-grandchildren.
